Fashion Soccer Socks On The Rise

It's that time of year again: soccer season in America. Parents of kids in soccer programs are held responsible year after year for finding soccer equipment for their growing children. Whether they play club soccer or recreational, kids grow, and they go through a million socks. Moms will tell you what the laundry load of socks looks like at the end of the week; usually, it's astronomical. But the question remains: What soccer socks are right for your kid?

With the advent of screen printing and the surge of kids participating in sports, athletic socks are more varied than ever. Some teams will not allow custom socks, and some referees may require that entire teams wear the same socks, depending on the level of play. Club teams will often require exact same head-to-toe uniform for all players. But if the league is playing just for fun, your kid may get a kick out of the screen-printed socks that are available. If you look in the right place, you will find anything you can think of: stripes, spots, logos, hearts, animals, etc. The Internet is a wonderful place.

Of course, there are other things to consider than just fashion. Fabric choice is a big deal for something that covers the entire lower leg. Cotton breathes better but stains more easily; polyester blends are sturdier, but you sacrifice some comfort. If the socks are too itchy, older players may be able to get over it, but younger players may find it distracting. The most important thing to consider when buying athletic socks is durability. It's tempting to just buy some cheap socks, but this will likely result in more money ultimately being spent replacing them more often.

Whatever level the player, soccer socks are in high demand this season. The most important thing is to have fun, so you might as well have some fun equipment.
